This could be exciting. At least until the Food Nazis in Nanny Bloombergs NYC have a hissy fit.
A New York City cafe will soon be bakin’ with bacon. Baconery, formerly an online-only spot for bacon-infused pastries, will start hawking its products at a bookstore cafe in the swank Chelsea neighborhood on May 1. Chef Wesley Klein’s signature item is the chocolate peanut butter bacon cookie, but there are also bacon brownies, chocolate coconut bacon and white chocolate bacon pretzel rods. Klein himself is more than just the brainchild of the operation: He’s also a customer. He said that since falling in love with bacon as a kid, he eats it every day. We heartily salute him, his effort and his likely ailing heart.”
Alas, NYC is one of those places I try very very hard to avoid and I’m not likely to ever get there before this delectable little oasis of culinary delight is shut down by the the food nazis. But we can dream, can’t we? Pass some of that chocolate coconut bacon!
I know, I know. I should not be thinking about 2016 when 2012 hasn’t been decided yet. First of all, there is no guarantee that we will have a Constitutional Republic in 2016, especially is King Barak retains the throne. If, by some miracle, Romney wins and the country survives the forcible ejection of a screaming BHO being dragged feet first out of the White House, all the while clutching his last lunch of German Shepard pie, and the inevitable race riots that are likely to follow, it is not unreasonable to assume that Romney will run again to preside for four more years over the smolder remnants of what used to be the United States.
But lets spend a few minutes thinking about the GOP’s “farm team” of young conservatives that will come of age to be viable contenders for a Presidential run in 2016. I can think of several great candidates that are not the usual “Rich Old White Men™.
In no particular order:
- Bobby Jindal.
Here is a self-made man who personifies conservatism in government. The son of Indian immigrants, he is an “up by his bootstraps” self-made American Success story. But more than that, he is a true conservative who remains close to the people. Jim Geraghty wrote last October, “Such is Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal’s record that almost no one in the Bayou State wants to challenge it. Somehow, his achievements have triggered a complete implosion of Democratic gubernatorial ambitions in a state that has had four Republican governors in 125 years, and that’s including Buddy Roemer, who was elected as a Democrat but switched parties while in office.”
- Susana Martinez.
I will Let the incomparable Jay Nordlinger describe her. ” She was born in El Paso, Texas, in 1959, and she was raised in that city too. Her father was a Marine, a Golden Gloves boxing champion, a deputy sheriff, and, finally, a businessman. One of the governor’s great-grandfathers was Toribio Ortega, a general in the Mexican Revolution. When in high school, she was the student-council president. She went to the University of Texas at El Paso, and then to the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Why did she go to law school? When she was a child, she noticed that congressmen and senators tended to be lawyers. She herself was interested in a life of politics and public service. She never had a doubt that she would go to law school.” Do read the whole thing.
- Allen West.
How about a 100% black President? Not the half white, half African polygamist that we have now, but someone who is authentically American black? Born in Atlanta, Georgia into a career military family. An uncompromising patriot and a leader that inspires his men, he has taken some pretty cheap shots. The most notorious was the “Iraq Interrogation Incident. West was charged with violating articles 128 (assault) and 134 (general article) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. During a hearing held as part of an Article 32 investigation in November 2003, West stated, “I know the method I used was not right, but I wanted to take care of my soldiers.” The charges were ultimately referred to an Article 15 proceeding rather than court-martial, at which West was fined $5,000. LTC West accepted the judgment and retired with full benefits in the summer of 2004. Asked if he would act differently under similar circumstances again, West testified, “If it’s about the lives of my soldiers at stake, I’d go through hell with a gasoline can.” That is a leader. He would be just as dogged in defending the Constitution and has been vocal in criticism of Obama for trashing American way of life. Check out the picture HERE jus for fun!
- Condoleezza Rice.
No list like this would be complete without adding Condi Rice. Why not? She is far better qualified that the Jackwagon in the Oval Office now! Unlike Obama, she actually lived through the Civil Rights movement era and grow up in Bull Conner’s (D) Birmingham during the 60’s. If you want someone who lived an authentic Black experience, you would be hard-pressed to find someone better. She has been rumored to be in consideration for Romney’s Vice President, a rumor I sincerely hope has substance. It would greatly shake up the race, wouldn’t it? Brilliant, accompilshed, self-made, and multi-talented, she is the opposite of Affirmative Action cry babies that make up most of what passes and Black academia today.
There are some up-and-coming people who have me greatly excited for the 2020’s. Here are a few I am watching.
- Mia Love.
How is this for post-racial! What a story. “A Brooklyn-born Mormon convert, Love is a marathon-running mother of three and the daughter of Haitian immigrants who came to the United States with $10 in their pockets, she says. Her mother cleaned houses and worked as a nurse at a retirement home while her father worked for a painting company, toiled as a janitor at a Catholic school and drove a school bus to support their growing family.” Yahoo ran an article pointing out that she is Black, Conservative and Mormon. So much for the Mormon church being racist!
- Erika Harold.
Mentioned as a possible candidate for the 13th Congressional District os Illinois (Oh please run, please, please, please…) Harold is also Black and a former Miss America! John Fund has a great article in NRO.
She openly told me she planned to run for high national office some day, and made it clear what platform she would run on. “I’m a conservative who believes in the free market, is pro-life and pro–Second Amendment,” she told me back then. “I also am not afraid to put my point of view forward.”
Indeed, when she became Miss America, she had a fight with pageant officials because she wanted to add sexual abstinence along with youth violence and anti-bullying to the portfolio of issues she would promote during her year-long reign. She refused to bow to pressure, and after two days of discussions with officials, she won them over. She estimates she spent 20 percent of her time discussing sexual abstinence with young people. “If I had become silent on this issue once I became Miss America, it would cause young people to whom I had already spoken to question where I stood on these issues and to question whether or not I still maintained my commitment,” she told reporters at the time.
Hey, maybe there is hope for the GOP. If America survives Obama.
In case you are not paying attention or have your head buried in the sand, the Wall Street Journal has a very rude wake up call for you.
Try this thought experiment: You decide to donate money to Mitt Romney. You want change in the Oval Office, so you engage in your democratic right to send a check.
Several days later, President Barack Obama, the most powerful man on the planet, singles you out by name. His campaign brands you a Romney donor, shames you for “betting against America,” and accuses you of having a “less-than-reputable” record. The message from the man who controls the Justice Department (which can indict you), the SEC (which can fine you), and the IRS (which can audit you), is clear: You made a mistake donating that money.
You think this is over the top demagoguery? You aren’t paying attention.
This fundraiser of a president has shown an acute appreciation for the power of money to win elections, and a cutthroat approach to intimidating those who might give to his opponents.
He’s targeted insurers, oil firms and Wall Street—letting it be known that those who oppose his policies might face political or legislative retribution. He lectured the Supreme Court for giving companies more free speech and (falsely) accused the Chamber of Commerce of using foreign money to bankroll U.S. elections. The White House even ginned up an executive order (yet to be released) to require companies to list political donations as a condition of bidding for government contracts. Companies could bid but lose out for donating to Republicans. Or they could quit donating to the GOP—Mr. Obama’s real aim.
Now, I will repeat the question I asked the other day, do you think this meglomaniac would peaceably leave the White House on January 20 is Romney wins the election? Even worse, if he wins, do you doubt for a moment that scenario described at the beginning of the Wall Street Journal article would not come to pass? If you think Obama would gracefully exit or treat conservatives civilly you are naive or a fool.
Conservatives are marked. Every one of us we has dared to speak out in the name of Constitutional Government will be a target. It matters not if Obama wins or loses. Should he lose, he will incite a race war that will make 1968 seem like a picnic. If he wins he will be free from any constraints on his behavior and will act like so many of the tinpot despots in Third World hellholes he is so fascinated by. He will become Hugo Chavez.
The choice is clear enough. We either acquiesce and have a socialistic dictatorship, or we fight back and have a second civil world. The Progs will say it is better to prostrate ourselves before “the ONE” than is it to fight back. Of course, they like living in a socialist dictatorship. What about you?
“We’re headed in the right direction. Unemployment continues to drop and those people who are unemployed, they’re not going to be voting for the party who wants to cut their benefits, cut access to food stamps, cut job training,”
Yep. Those who are getting the gravy don’t want to get off the train. Chaka Fattah told Al (blood on my hands) Not-so-Sharpton that moochers aren’t gonna vote for no crackah who take da money from ’em.
No, Peggy Joseph. Obumbler is not the one paying your mortgage. American taxpayers are. That means people who have jobs and earn money. That means I directly fund your gold-bricking, welfare-grabbing, way of life. I earn a living. But thanks to you and to
fatwa Fattah and other shiftless people, I have to turn over a large portion of what I earn every year.
Go get an effing job!
While I am on this rant, I have a modest proposal:
No one who pays less that $1.00 in Federal income tax may vote in any election for a federal office holder.
Why do I want a law like this? Simple. When the freeloaders hit 51% they will vote to pillage the rest of us. Just in case you are wondering (or brain-dead) they freeloaders are now at 49%.
Oh yeah… cue the Progs screaming that I am a RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACIST in 3… 2… 1…
