Remember when the Vacationer-in-Chief called on all Americans to put aside political polemics and to engage in civil debate? Here is an example of the kinds of things we can expected from the MSM and the DNC (redundant, I know…)
Rick Perry made national headlines in 2009 when, during a speech to a Tea Party group, he floated the possibility that Texas could secede from the union. But the governor’s substantive ties to the neo-Confederate movement may be deeper than previously known.
A 1998 voting guide published by a leading neo-Confederate group and obtained by Salon not only endorses Perry for lieutenant governor but also describes him as “a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.” Perry’s office did not respond to a request for comment about the governor’s possible membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Where do you start? First of all so what? My great great grandfather fought with Bobby Lee. He was a Captain in the 17th Va. That makes me a “Son of Confederate Veterans.” What is that?
The citizen-soldiers who fought for the Confederacy personified the best qualities of America. The preservation of liberty and freedom was the motivating factor in the South’s decision to fight the Second American Revolution. The tenacity with which Confederate soldiers fought underscored their belief in the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. These attributes are the underpinning of our democratic society and represent the foundation on which this nation was built.
Today, the Sons of Confederate Veteransis preserving the history and legacy of these heroes so that future generations can understand the motives that animated the Southern Cause.
The SCV is the direct heir of the United Confederate Veterans, and the oldest hereditary organization for male descendents of Confederate soldiers. Organized at Richmond, Virginia in 1896, the SCV continues to serve as a historical, patriotic, and non-political organization dedicated to ensuring that a true history of the 1861-1865 period is preserved.
Membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans is open to all male descendants of any veteran who served honorably in the Confederate armed forces.
That does not make a member a racist. But the MSDNC would have you believe that it does.
Even more fascinating is that Justin Elliot never bothered to check to see if Perry actually joined that organization. Nothing like not being bothered by facts. We will leave for another time whether the central mission of the “League of the South” is segregation (It most assuredly is not) and whether it’s mission is more a romantic fantasy than practical reality.
The whole article is one smear after another. And when Elliot was called out on these, he invented other smears. See this.
But bear in mind that the Obungler media machine will attempt to paint anyone who opposes “His Highness” as a racist.
Here is a warning conservatives need to heed:
We, as Conservatives need to defend our own. As a caller to Sean Hannity’s program put it yesterday, “The Obama White House will attempt to irradiate any Republican who looks formidable between now and the next election.” It’s up to the GOP to defend rather than devour our own.
Bear in mind, of course that the Stupid Party is not synonymous with conservative. It’s a rough proxy, but the warning is valid just the same. The MSM/DNC/White House Press Office (all roughly the same thing) will do everything in their power to destroy any viable opposition to Hussein Obama. He cannot run on his record so he has to run on opposition research. He is a Chicago machine thug and will not hesitate to use whatever he can to fool the voters.
We have been warned.
