So Michael Barone tells us.

Poetic justice, ain’t it?

You gotta hand it to Ann Coulter.  She really gets under the skin of Liberals. I was just reading an excerpt or two from her new book, Demonic: How The Liberal Mob Is Endangering America, and was reminded again as to just which party is the party of racism.

Every segregationist who ever served in the Senate was a Democrat and remained a Democrat except one. Even Strom Thurmond—the only one who later became a Republican—remained a Democrat for eighteen years after running for president as a Dixiecrat. There’s a reason they were not called the “Dixiecans.”

A curious sleight of hand is required to hide from the children the fact that all the segregationists in the Senate were Democrats. In history books, such as Robert A. Caro’s biography of Lyndon Johnson, the segregationists are not called “Democrats.” They’re called “Southerners.”3

Except it wasn’t just “Southerners” voting against civil rights. Not every senator who opposed black civil rights was a Southerner, but every one was a Democrat. In addition to the Southern Democrats who voted against putting the 1957 civil rights bill on the Senate calendar, for example, there were five Democrats from nowhere near the South: Democratic senator Wayne Morse of Oregon—a favorite target of Senator Joe McCarthy—Democratic senator Warren Magnuson of Washington, Democratic senator James Murray of Montana, Democratic senator Mike Mansfield of Montana, and Democratic senator Joseph O’Mahoney of Wyoming

My personal exposure to this was growing up in my thoroughly FDR Democrat family.  I won’t go into details other than to say that I heard quite a bit growing up.  Remember as a deaf kid, if it was not explicitly taught I would not learn it.  I still, at age 56, have no idea about the family gossip, but I knew real well the family views on segregation.  (My father softened a whole lot, like many of his generation, when he got old.)

At any rate, read this excerpt and think about it. (which will disqualify any liberals who are incapable of thinking).   The main point is that it’s not the conservatives who are pushing segregationist views, it’s the liberals.  Liberals need a permanent underclass to keep them in power. (Why do you think they are all about amnesty for illegal immigrants?)  They need a servile underclass, depended on Government Cheese in order to consistently win enough votes to rule.  As Ann pointed out, they don’t really believe in anything except power itself.

John Lennon, Republican?

He is still revered around the world as a peace-loving working class hero.

But by the time he died, John  Lennon was a closet conservative embarrassed by his radical past, according to his former personal assistant.

Fred Seaman claims that the former Beatle was a fan of Ronald Reagan, who went on to become America’s Republican president in 1981 and forged a close political alliance with Margaret Thatcher.

I found this fascinating regardless of whether the spin by either side is true.  (The Nation went batsh*t over it and pointed out that John Seaman was convicted of absconding with personal belongs of Lennon after the assassination.  (Gotcha… Stealing the White House silverware and boffing barely legal interns are OK, though?)

I seriously doubt Lennon would be a conservative, but he would have been comfortable among the Republican elite, I suspect. I am not sure as which that last statement says more about – Lennon or the Northeast Republicans.  Whatever, any group that has a hit like Taxman has to have something of a libertarian streak in them.

Let me tell you how it will be;
There’s one for you, nineteen for me.
‘Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

Should five per cent appear too small,
Be thankful I don’t take it all.
‘Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

(if you drive a car, car;) – I’ll tax the street;
(if you try to sit, sit;) – I’ll tax your seat;
(if you get too cold, cold;) – I’ll tax the heat;
(if you take a walk, walk;) – I’ll tax your feet.

‘Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

Don’t ask me what I want it for, (ah-ah, mister Wilson)
If you don’t want to pay some more. (ah-ah, mister heath)
‘Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

Now my advice for those who die, (taxman)
Declare the pennies on your eyes. (taxman)
‘Cause I’m the taxman,
Yeah, I’m the taxman.

And you’re working for no one but me.

I think Obama should play this song at all his campaign stops from now on.  Truth in adverting, brother.

I don’t have a stong opinion about Michele Bachmann yet, but I know this much: The media will follow the same playbook they did in 2008 with Sarah Palin.  Conservative women cannot be allowed to get a tail wind.  they must be personally destroyed.  Gaffes and slips will be made into symptoms of stupidity or worse.  Jason Mattera points out:

While the media are trying to paint Rep. Michele Bachmann (R.-Minn.) as a blunder-prone candidate—or “flake,” as Chris Wallace unjustifiably called her on “Fox News Sunday”—Barack Obama and many of his Democrat colleagues have played “Can You Top This?” with their own misstatements and slipups, and yet they do not receive even a scintilla of the scrutiny that Bachmann does.

Within the last three years, the media’s self-appointed smartest President in modern history has insulted the Special Olympics, mixed up the situations in Iraq and Afghanistan, falsely claimed that his American Uncle liberated Auschwitz, signed the Westminster Abbey guest book with the date 24 May 2008 when the date was really 24 May 2011, mispronounced “corpsman” when speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast, and perhaps most egregiously, God’s gift to the presidency couldn’t even distinguish between living and dead Medal of Honor recipients.

But you don’t hear about Obumbler’s stumbles.  Barak Hussein must be protected at all costs.  See Noel Sheppard’s article at Newsbusters for more. I really liked this bit:

As Americans saw during the 2008 campaign as well as the past two and a half years, it’s more like Pee Wee football for Obama, as he can fumble at will and still get a pat on the head from his adoring press.
Nope.  He will never be held accountable for his mistakes.  He just wont.  And the American Sheeple are too blind and out of touch to get what’s happening.
